What do we do?

"What do Rural Roots Louisiana do?" Thank you for visiting RURAL ROOTS LOUISIANA. We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those in need through various programs and initiatives. Explore our website to learn more about our mission and how you can get involved.

Established a youth program designed to engage young people in meaningful, creative work during the summer — while also providing salaries to six residents from our local community.

Serving as an active CoDA Formal Advisory Board Member at Dillard University, working to connect community health concerns with environmental data and policy solutions across Louisiana.

Working alongside legal and government leaders to turn community concerns into enforceable protections and meaningful policy reform.

We advocate, we don’t whisper about injustice — we stand firm and speak boldly for our community.

We're on the ground serving the community with pre-storm supplies — ensuring families are prepared, protected, and supported before disaster strikes..

Training the next generation to lead, protect, and serve their community.

In partnership with Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in St. James, we served 600 families with Thanksgiving turkeys — faith, service, and community working together.

When Hurricane Francine knocked out the lights, it didn’t knock out our unity. Together with Second Mt. Olive Church in Smoke Bend and Ambetter Health, we ensured families had hot meals and water when they needed it most.

When the storm passed, the work began. We assisted residents with roof tarping to prevent additional water damage and stabilize homes.

Providing access to fresh fruits and vegetables in a community that has long lacked affordable, healthy food options.

Real-time air monitoring to identify potential pollution and advocate for immediate action when standards are exceeded.

We don’t wait for change — we clean, restore, and protect our own.
